Your questions are more than welcome.
Do I need to book? It’s a good idea to book in advance, but we happily accept walk-ins. A few seats are reserved each night for walk-ins. We take cash and card payments at the door.
How much is the class? We have casual classes for $22. This cost includes the use of our art materials, butcher paper and drawing boards.
Has Life Drawing moved? Yes. We relocated to Coates Community Arts at the end of 2023. Find us at Suite 6, Level 4, 20 Collins Street. Yes, we’re in the Coates Building. It’s a weird, old medical building.
I’ve never drawn before, is this going to be an issue? Our classes are structured but untutored. Give it a go. All skill levels are participating.
How long is the class? The classes are 2 hours from 7:00 to 9:00pm. We open at 6:30pm so please don’t be late. If you need to leave early, we have a break from 8:00 to 8:20pm. This is a good time to sneak away.
I need to cancel my ticket. Can I get a refund? Absolutely. Email us before 1:00pm on the day of your booked class to request a refund or change of date. If your email request is for a change of date, make sure you include the new class date in the email.
Is there car parking options nearby? Lucky for you, we’ve listed affordable and convenient parking options on the ‘WHERE’ page of this website ranging from $ to $$.
I’m under 18, can I attend the classes? Of course. Please note that under-18s are not permitted to drink alcohol in the class. If your parent or guardian would like to get in touch, they can email our facilitator, Lou, who is a registered teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Lou is happy to exchange phone numbers and assist as needed.
Can I bring my bicycle or electronic scooter inside the venue? No. We don’t have room to store these items.
Is the class accessible to wheelchair users? Unfortunately, not. The Coates Building entrance is 70cm wide. It is a glass door that opens outwards (towards the street) and is manually operated. The Coates Building has no accessible toilets. We have made repeated requests to the building’s management to make these improvements.
Can I buy a gift for someone? Of course. We have a double pass, 5-pass, and 10-pass available to purchase as gifts from Trybooking.
Can I be a model? We have a large group of life models that we work with on a regular and ongoing basis. Our life models are booked two to three months in advance. On the occasion of a model’s cancellation, we will invite new models to work with us. If you’d like to express your interest, please send a short email including:
– Contact phone number.
– Your modelling style and physical description.
– If you have any life model training.
– Your modelling CV (at least 3-months experience is necessary).
– All models require an ABN or will need to provide a Statement by Supplier form available from ATO website.
