PARKING OPTIONS: There are a few places we recommend to park your car in the CBD. Here are some affordable and convenient options:

STREET PARKING (NEARBY) 2-hour paid street parking is available on Collins Street, Little Collins Street, and Exhibition Street. If you park outside the building, you may need to move your car to avoid a parking fine. You’re welcome to do so during our class break, from 8:00pm to 8:15pm.

STREET PARKING – LANSDOWNE STREET Both sides of Lansdowne Street, between Albert and Flinders Streets, offer the most affordable street parking. Parking is available here for 2 or 4 hours until 7:00pm. Parking is completely free from 7:00pm. Lansdowne Street is next to Fitzroy Gardens, approximately 600 metres from the Coates Building, around a 10-minute stroll.

COUNCIL HOUSE CAR PARK Secure parking is available at 200 Little Collins Street. The cost is $10 all evening after 5:00pm. The carpark is located approximately 600 metres from the venue, around a 10-minute walk.

FIRST PARKING Secure parking is also available at First Parking (Parkade) at 34-60 Little Collins Street. The cost is $13.60 all evening from 5:00pm. This discounted price is available if you sign up as a member (for free) via the First Parking website. It is just a few minutes from Coates Community Arts.

UPON ARRIVAL: A friendly door person will let you into the Coates Building between 6:30pm and 7:00pm. Take the lift to level 4 and walk to your left, we’re in Suite 6, at the end of the hall. The sign on the window says ‘The Federation of Chinese Associations’.  If you arrive late, please text the number on the Coates Building glass doors, and we’ll meet you during class breaks.

ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION: Unfortunately, the Coates Building is not accessible to the entire community. The entrance is a glass door that opens outwards (towards the street) and is manually operated. The glass door is 70cm wide, unsuitable for most wheelchair users. The building has no accessible toilets. We have made repeated requests to the building’s management to make these improvements.
